Children's Sewing Classes
As early as age 8, children can use a sewing machine safely. Classes are conducted after school and on Saturdays in one-hour blocks. The program runs from September through May and class sizes are limited. A student may join the program at any time, but students are only accepted until a class is filled. Because each student has an individualized program, ages and skill levels are mixed. This allows each student to advance at his/her own page and discourages competition with anyone but oneself.
Program Highlights
After learning how to safely use and troubleshoot a sewing machine, students begin their sewing adventure! Students will complete a core group of projects where basic skills are learned. They then have the opportunity to choose projects that are developed and ranked by degree of difficulty within their skill set.
St. Francis Festival of Trees and Our Year-End Runway Show
For the past seven years, our students have themed, planned, made ornaments and decorated trees for the St. Francis Festival of Trees at the Hyatt in downtown Greenville. Our kids are phenomenal! To date, five out of our seven trees have won 1st place and two have taken 2nd place. Students also participate in our end-of-year Runway Show. Our recital is a professional show held at the Haywood mall complete with stage, D.J. and commentator. The show averages over 400 guests in attendance.
